While the concepts, claims, main purposes, and cause/effect dynamics are paramount, having familiarity with a wide range of science-related vocabulary words is definitely helpful.
Given this, I created a few resources to help my students familiarize themselves with science vocabulary so they feel more comfortable with the readings and encounter fewer unknown words that can slow them down, cause confusion, or distract from their larger analysis tasks.
Have a look at the resources that follow, and let me know what you think. You will earn Teachers Pay Teachers shopping credits for every review that you leave for items you have purchased.
Happy Tutoring & Teaching!
These digital ELA resources are primarily geared towards grades 8-12.
I have mentored high school students with science research projects, presentations, and research-based writing competitions. This is a guide that I created for them to help keep them organized throughout their process. I encourage them to print it and keep in their research folder as a convenient tool to help keep them on task, putting them at ease throughout the duration of their project or assignment.
